A rather common problem among newly-minted parents is de Querven's disease. This is an inflammation of the tendons, which is accompanied by sharp pains in the area of the thumb, the back of the hand, as well as the forearm and neck.
Sharp pain can be avoided if you learn to properly hold the baby in your arms.
How not to keep a child
Do not hug it, bending your wrists at a sharp angle. In this position, the nerves in the thumb and wrist are compressed. Constant pressure in this area can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, that is, acute pain and numbness of the palms. And do not protrude the hip, because this can cause displacement of the hip, spine and cervical vertebrae.
How to keep a child
Stand straight. The body should remain in line with the pelvis and hips. Do not squeeze your palms and fingers, but keep them in a flat horizontal position.
This picture clearly demonstrates the correct and incorrect body position:
When you lift the child, do not take him for the armpits, otherwise the thumbs will always be removed from the hands at a right angle. And this is fraught with pain.
To properly raise the baby, you need to put one hand under the lower part of his body, and the other - under the head and neck. Wrap the child with your straight hands, without squeezing your palms.
Another reason for pain in the wrist is a smartphone. Although he is great helper for young parents, but often scrolling the screen with your thumb can only exacerbate sharp pains.
If your hands still hurt badly, do not tighten up with going to the doctor. He can give you an effective treatment.
